PCM launches PCM Vulcain™
A pumping revolution in the thermal recovery of heavy oil
The world’s first all-metal progressing cavity pump, PCM Vulcain™ withstands the extreme downhole temperatures of thermal oil recovery.
PPB Moisture Measurement Capability in a Transmitter Package

Moisture measurement in low parts-per-billion measurement ranges for ultra-high purity (UHP) gases is critical to a variety of semiconductor, LCD, and other manufacturing processes.  HygroTrace™ uses a  patented technique to provide accurate and reliable measurement for 0-100 PPB moisture levels with the sensitivity and speed of response matched only by current technology analyzers that are much larger in size and more expensive in price.

Interface measurement with OPTIFLEX
Interfaces can now be measured up to a distance of 20m with OPTIFLEX, the guided radar (TDR) from KROHNE. Tests at Onyx, Norway’s leading waste management and recycling company have been successfully completed. For measuring interfaces two reflections have to be evaluated. On the one hand the level pulse and on the other hand the interface pulse has to be analysed, which will, as a matter of course be absorbed by the product.
Scribing: for deep, noiseless marking
The new SV312 scribing marking head, with its highly rigid mechanicals industrial design, is the ideal solution for automotive engine blocks identification or direct VIN numbers marking.
Low-cost compact industrial Ethernet switches

Northern Connectors have now introduced Harting’s new range of low-cost industrial Ethernet switches which combine low-profile mounting with ease of installation in IP30 industrial environments into their product range.

New plastic butterfly valve

With double eccentric operating principle

The same product that has fascinated our customers for two years in the smaller dimensions is now also available in DN250 and DN300: the plastic butterfly valve type 567/568 with the double eccentric operating principle. Compared to the conventional centric operating principle used in the past, these new double eccentric valves have a lower actuating torque.

The economic advantage of this innovation is that smaller, approximately 20 % cheaper actuators can be used.  In addition, the double eccentric valve has less wear and tear because the disc moves away from the seal quickly when opening. In the open position, the disc does not touch the passage seal. This means there is less chance of incrustation or impurities attaching

When Two is Better Than One

Sensor Technology, the company that developed practical non-contact torque measurement, will once again unveil a major innovation at the M-Tec Exhibition.

New for 2008 is TorqSense RWT330/340 series, designed for use in applications where space is limited. Like other units in the TorqSense family, the RWT330/340 provides non-contact measurement of torque, speed, power and position of rotating shafts, such as machine drives, drive shafts for pumps, fans, mixers etc, and in the critical axes of test rigs.
As more and more applications are found for TorqSense, a number of popular requests have been noted, as Tony Ingham explains:
