Call for Papers for AchemAsia 2019

In 2019 AchemAsia will take place in Shanghai for the first time. The „International Expo and Innovation Forum for Sustainable Chemical Production“ from 21 to 23 May 2019 focuses on topics that are highly relevant for China’s process industry. Papers for the AchemAsia conference can be submitted until 10 January 2019.

30 years after its premiere, AchemAsia has undergone a facelift: exhibition and congress are becoming more focused and centered on topics that play a special role in China’s current Five Year Plan. This includes questions that lie at the core of process and pharma technology, but also themes such as industrial water management, plant and process safety and digitalization. This is reflected in the topics of the congress. It is jointly organized by DECHEMA and local and international partners. The individual sessions are set up as satellite events:

  • Advances in industrial water management
  • Digitalization
  • Future production in chemical and pharmaceutical industry
  • Materials for renewable energy production and storage
  • Pharma meets production
  • Play it safe – New concepts for process and labour safety
  • Resource efficiency and process intensification
  • State-of-the-art in fluid handling

Presentations from industry are welcome as well as contributions from academic research, covering new scientific findings with a high relevance for application, new developments, innovative solutions and lessons learned from practical implementation.

An AchemAsia PRAXISforum offers exhibitors the opportunity to present their innovative products and services.

Registration for exhibitors is also still open. More at www.achemasia.de

Curing a Process: Mail-Order Pharmacy Solves Prescription Woes with Minitab

After implementing a new Pharmacy Management System (PMS), a major mail-order pharmacy found that work slowed and orders began piling up—a turn of events that was bad for their business, and for the patients and doctors they served. With customer complaints quickly accumulating, the company had to find out what went wrong and fix it. Thanks to Minitab and Lean Six Sigma, they were able to improve the process and streamline their ability to fill prescriptions.

WIKA has completed its new temperature transmitter family: With the model T16, a digital instrument is now also available exclusively for thermocouples (TC).

The new transmitter, with analogue output and high basic accuracy, is available in a head-mounted or rail-mounted version. It processes signals from all commercially available TCs. The T16 can be intuitively and quickly configured via WIKAsoft-TT software and the magWIK quick connector. Due to its additional sensor connection from outside, a large clamping range (up to 2.5 mm²) and an imprinted pin assignment, it is also easy to install.

Like its counterpart for resistance sensors, model T15, the T16 can be used in a wide variety of applications. It is certified in accordance with the DIN EN 61326-2-3:2013 EMC protection standard, has sensor-break monitoring in accordance with NAMUR recommendations and an ATEX or IECEx approval.
